Matthew Azus

Matthew Azus is a Principal at Affiliated Adjustment Group (AAG) and has been with AAG since 2018.  As a third-generation public adjuster, insurance and property damage are in Matthew’s blood.  He works diligently to achieve impressive results for his clients, working closely with them in preparing their claims to insurance carriers and working to negotiate a settlement to maximize recovery in their favor. 

 

During his 15+ year career as an Attorney and Public Insurance Adjuster, Matthew Azus has represented policyholders who have sustained property damage to their businesses and homes.  An advocate for the insured, Matthew has a particular focus on real estate representing apartment building owners, condominium and cooperative associations, developers, hospitality, commercial and office building owners.

 

Whether the damage is sustained by virtue of fire, flood, wind, natural disaster or other peril, Matthew provides in-depth insurance policy analysis, evaluates the damages sustained and prepares a comprehensive claim (inclusive of damage appraisals, building consultant reports, inventory compilation and projected business income loss) to present on the insured’s behalf to the insurance company.

His 8+ years of litigation experience provide the foundation for addressing a variety of legal issues that arise. Matthew began his legal career with Lerner, Arnold & Winston, LLP as a law clerk in 2008 before joining the firm as an Associate Attorney in 2010. 

 

His litigation practice concentrated on first-party and third-party property damage matters.  Matthew has researched and written numerous motions, pleadings, appellate briefs, and other legal documents in the New York State and Federal court systems.  He has taken countless depositions regarding various types of property damage cases.  Matthew’s trial experience includes successfully trying property damage matters to verdict while also utilizing his mediation and negotiation expertise to obtain successful settlements on behalf of his clients.

 

Matthew is a proud graduate of the University of Michigan and St. John’s School of Law.  He is a Co-Chair on the Golf Committee for the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America outing as well as a member of Long Island Real Estate Group.
